What is the deadline time?

The deadlines is 23th Aprile 2017 at 23.59 GMT. There isn't extensions. All projects delivered after this date will not be considered, as it was written in official notice. Also, We recommended don't wait the last day to load the project to avoid overloading the system.

What types of building materials are available in the area?

In the DRAWING folder there are the cards of the materials available in the area. With clay it is made of raw earth bricks. The laterite is not used for making bricks. Nearby there is a sawmill that produces wooden boards. In the area there isn't bamboo, but this is available in nearby areas. All other materials such as plastic, cement, iron, steel, must be requested from the urban centers.

A Tanaf there are systems for water distribution and sewer system? And, there is the electrical distribution system?

In Tanaf there aren't a water distribution systems, only a few homes are connected to systems. The water resource is given by wells built near the homes. There aren't a sewer system, the bathrooms are made through the ditches dug in the ground, usually 20 meters away from the houses. There is an electricity system with a very low power.

Could I add a member to my team or change members after the registration?

Is not possibile to change your team after the registration, because there is a security registration system that does not allow the editing to preserve information in the database.

Which is the meaning of: "the maximum architectural imprint is of 350 square meters?"

The maximum imprint is of 350 square meters. The imprint is the vertical projection of the maximum extent of ground covered spaces. In other parts of the site it os possible to design everything as long as it meets the criteria of the competition, such as landscape, furniture, gardens, water etc etc.

What can I do in the other parts of the site?

It is not possible. There is a registration system that safeguards the security of the information entered into the form that can not be changed.

If we decide to change project area we can imagine a larger area (as 800-1000m2) with an irregolar form (boundary)??

The architectural imprint must remain 350 m2. You can change the different site to place the project, provided that design requirements are observed. If you change the area you should not greatly exceed the size of the previous area. So, you can keep on 600-700mq at maximum and you can image a irregular form of boundary.

What's the proportions of the worshipers of each religion in Tanaf ( Muslim, Christians, Ortodox and Animism).

The 65-70% are Muslims, 20-25% Christian and the others Ortodox and Animism.

Layouts have to contain the ID Team?

The ID Team should be inserted in the layouts and in the file name of the material requested for the competition, as written in offical notice.

Why the old sacred architecture in the middle of the road is not used?

The original mosque is the building in the middle of the road. But this now is not used because it doesn't have the requirements necessary to meet the needs of the community, like fruition, safety, hygiene and flexibility space problems. Often the community goes in small mosques in the other near villages to pray. Also, It has a only destination like mosque, so other religions do not have a structure where to pray.

What is it the white building near the old sacred archtiecture in middle of the road?

It's a yard construction that has remained not completed and unrealized. So, this structure is not used and is not usable.

Can you supply us the exact spots of some important extant buildings on the map which include one Church, one mosque, the school and the market?

In Tanaf there aren't very important building but there are school, health center and market. we have indicated these in this image: donwload

It says in the guildlines of the competition that 1 A1 layout (841 x 594mm) in .pdf format, written in English,300 dpi, maximum size 10 mb, horizontal layout. Is this a compulsory stipulation or we can break the rule?

It's necessary that these requirements (size, format, languages, orientation) are respected.

What is the building on the east of the blue line in CAD drawing?

The building in blue line is the old sacred archtiecture in Tanaf.

The architecture has to be divided into many spaces for every type of religion or must be a single space?

The choice if to create one large space that allows the practice of all religions, or the division of different areas, it's your choice. It will be important the interpretation of spirituality. You should decide what you think appropriate and necessary to perform a better function of the building.

Is there a possibility to dig a well? Are the community capable of doing it?

You can dig a well, with the community. However, these types of wells at normally don't have a long life and don't have a sewage systems.

The red box in Cad file of Tanaf Village from you has imprint of around 600 m2. Doublesize witch is mentioned in FAQ.

The red area in the DWG file is the project area, so the building lot where there will be the construction site, totaling 600m2. Instead, the architecture can have a size of 350m2. This means that architecture can be placed inside the lot as you think better.

Are people familliar with using toillets? Would it be a part of a building, which destroys buildings spirituality or a part which is highly needed anywhere considering bad sanitary conditions.

Regarding the bathroom you are free to interpret the situation. it is your choice. But, in the local tradiction there are Turkish baths arranged approximately 25m away from the building. There aren't sewers network.

Is new technology as solar panels or solutions for water purification reachable?

We prefer natural energy systems rather than imported technologies. However if you feel you can use. All this is indicated in the "program" section of the official notice. Regarding the natural water purification exist natural filtering methods.

Teams missing one under 35 member at least will be disqualified. If I am the youngest of my team and I will be 36 years old in 2017 after the end of the competition, my team can take part?

Yes, all the teams that have at least one component having age between 18 and 35 years old at least until the end of the competition can partecipate.

The elaborate A1 I can put any kind of image?

As indicated in the "Rules" it is required to comprehensively represent the project through sections render sketches. Any texts are to be inserted in the English language (after exclusion), but it is preferable to communicate the project through images.

The project site is binding?

It is recommended that the project area where the Tanaf Community envisaged the creation of architecture, but you can change area if the choice is justified.

The size is fixed?

The architecture must have a maximum architectural imprint of 300 square meters, where inside you must include all the activities related to worship and prayer.

How the building can be designed to emergencies?

The architecture has the main address to be sacred architecture for prayer. Every religion has its own characteristics, it must then evaluate the compatible characteristics. The area is characterized by temporary housing so they are frequent disruptions for disadvantaged families, health or environmental disasters. In these cases have a closed, protected and comfortable, it can give added importance to architecture with a social value and development.

What's the blue and red boxes in AutoCAD drawings of Tanaf Village File?

Drawing in the folder there are two files autocad: Tanfa valley contour lines and Tanaf village. The first is the hydraulic reservoir of Tanaf valley. The second is the village of Tanaf, where the project area is marked in red, in blue is the future demolition of the existing mosque. The layers of the CAD file have been renamed according his meanings. The site of intervention is in red. Nevertheless, is possible to find a different site to place the project, according with the design requirements wrote in notice of competition. In addition to this, there is a text file with the project area coordinates. You can copy the geographical coordinates on Google Maps or Google Earth to see the project area.

Can i use concrete walls in the design proposal?

Yes, you can use the croncrete walls but is not a sustainable material.

Is it possible to do underground floors?

You can build underground floors while providing the drainage systems  from the water during the rain season

Is the design building should be cosidered more like a temporary structure or permanent building?

The project should be considered permanent, but if you want you can also provide some temporary parts.

Does the Tanaf community do construction together or are there special workers for construction?

In the Tanaf community there aren't specialized workers. Often, the community does the things together, and often in the group of work there is someone who has a more experience than other but it isn't special worker. The specialized workers could be found in the nearby towns like Sedhiou or Kolda.

How are foundations built traditionally?

Traditional foundations are created in various ways, for example by concrete, by tires, by stone, baked clay brick or concrete.

Are we free to build in site location closer to the forest? Is this easily accessed by people from the village or those who will be building the sacred structure?

Of course you can build near the Balmadou forest, which is still a little way off. To facilitate the access you can provide some paths.
