Angelo Ferrara
He is an independent architect and straw bale builder.
Born and raised in Sicily he spent his studies in Palermo and Lisbon. During university he had been tutoring for two years for the course of advanced architectural design.
After numerous different collaborations for international architectural offices in Spain, Brazil, Slovenia, he had found home in Vienna and had been living there for the last three years.
He is interested in architectural research using natural materials such as wood, straw and clay. He pays special attention to reading from typologies and using local craftsmen.
In 2016 he lead a project team in "International workshop Kaira Looro architecture for Senegal" and he was also a jury member for the international competition "Kaira Looro, Sacred Architecture".
This year his project “Caravanserai” was selected from the international architecture program and design studio Hello Wood based in Budapest. He lead the workshop to build it during the architecture summer school “ Hello Wood, Project Village 2017”.
